The resort of San Alfonso del Mar in Algarrobo, Chile, has the world’s largest pool. The pool has colossal dimensions, and is next to the beach, boasts stunning views and 115 feet deep. Chilean pool is six times larger than its rival in the Orthlieb Casablanca, Morocco.
The pool has needed 5 years to be built, it has 3324 feet long and occupies 8 hectares, equivalent to 6,000 family pools. Sea water is used for maintenance, it has to be clean by a filtration system controlled by computer. It contains 250 million liters of water.
This resort features more than 1,000 apartments, divided into eleven buildings overlooking the sea and the pool. Each building has a private beach, harbor and swimming pool. San Alfonso del Mar also has other facilities: the largest aquarium in the country, a beach with heated pool (with the largest glass pyramid in Chile), restaurants, sports areas, waterslides, supermarket, boats, spa and 24 hour security, among other amenities.
