The Almirall chimney is considered the tallest industrial chimney with a spiral staircase, made in a popular work style, typical of the year of its construction in 1956, its master builder was Mariano Massana Ribas and is one of the ever more scarce architectural memories of these times in popular and industrial styles.
The chimney was built in order to expel the fumes of an old company called Almirall, which had been manufacturing bricks, mahones and tiles (bóbila) since 1910.
The Almirall chimney is located in Terrassa, province of Barcelona and has a height of 63.25 meters, almost 4 meters in diameter in its discharge cone, although it has the peculiarity that it narrows as its height increases and has 217 steps.
It is also considered for its beauty, as you can see in the beautiful photographs, as one of the most spectacular stairways on the planet.
For this reason, the Generalitat de Catalunya, in 2015, considered it an essential protected architectural element, which gives it all kinds of regulatory protection and restoration.
